living testimony

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

  • Satisfied

In English class today, we were discussing the Do Now. The question was “Why are some people never satisfied?” It got me thinking. The first thing that popped into my head was that people don’t look for the right things. It reminded me of the Samaritan woman that went to get water at the well.

    John 4:7-14
7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” 11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”  13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Remember, the “living water” is for everyone. Allow it to satisfy you. You will not thirst. (:

  • The Father and the Child.

I heard this story during a sermon. A pastor was talking about a visit to his friend’s house. His friend had a little child. His friend said “Watch this.” He called his child over. “Come to daddy” he said. This child was very small. His father purposely stood in the kitchen so that it seemed unlikely for this child to get to his father. The pastor had the thought, “There’s no way that this child would make it.” The child got up and started walking. The first couple of steps seem pretty good. After the 3rd or 4th step his little legs and knees started to wobble. Sure enough the child fell. The pastor thought “I knew it.” As the child started to cry, his father came and plucked him off the carpet and cradled him.

The pastor asked “Why did you stand so far when you knew your child would fall?”

His friend answered “Because he has a father that will pick him up, and each time he falls, he gets one step closer to his father.”

    —-

God is like the father in the story and we are like the child. Every time we fall, we have a Father that will always pick us up. And every time we get one step closer to Him.

  • Thanksgiving Godsighting

Many don’t know this but my family doesn’t really spend time together. I would say we are pretty broken. It’s like this for holidays and even on regular days. I remember once I didn’t talk to my dad for almost month cause I just didn’t see him. Pretty sad right? So when it comes to holidays i’m pretty much like… eh when it comes to my family.

This thanksgiving I spent it with the Tinnirello’s. It was nice. I thought it would be weird if I went cause thanksgiving is spent with family, but Lucas convinced me it was alright. Great food, and it was nice to see how loving their family is. It really made my thanksgiving meaningful.

  • Dirtball that reflects the sun

I guess this is about self-image and love. I don’t care how people see me. I can honestly say that I really don’t care. Instead I care about how people see God through me. Which is a different story. Think about the moon; It has no light of its own. Instead the light comes from the Sun. The moon is just a ball of dirt that reflects the light from the Sun.

We should be just like a dirtball that reflects God’s image. Many say they are Christians but continue to act like non-Christians. You should follow what Jesus said.

    Matthew 22:36-39
    36
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
    37
Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Jesus doesn’t just give us one, it’s actually three. How great is that? Love God, Love others, Love yourself. The easy way to remember this is J.O.Y. ((Jesus, others, yourself) My friend Iris told me that, it’s easy to remember. Go Iris!) And by neighbor it means everyone. Jesus loved everyone. We should do the same. This is the start of being a ball of dirt.

    1 John 13:34-35
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Start by showing love! God’s love! True real love.
